#ThrowbackThursday - Back When I Was a Pre-teen :)


Anyone who knows me at all knows that I love, love, LOVE reminiscing! Perhaps that's why, when I first found #ThrowbackThursday on Google+, I just knew I had to be part of the trend! I absolutely love getting to focus on something from my past that made me happy. And, oh, did this one ever make me happy.

We all know the current Ryan Gosling "Hey, Girl" memes. So I'm interested in this: When did Mr. Gosling first cross your radar? Was it The Notebook? Remember the Titans? Or did you first see him when I did? That's right, good old MMC! I specifically remember the little ads or "history" lessons (<- those are BIG air-quotes!) and Ryan did one that recounted the invention of the backpack. He played a guy who was holding his girlfriend's purse for her, and when a friend came by to chat, he threw a strap over each shoulder and the backpack was born! He was light years ahead of the "murse." :)

Are you a closet MMC fan? Tell me your favourite moments! My absolute favourite was the locker room skit, where the coach was giving all the guys a pep-talk - only, instead of football, he was laying out the plays for a school dance! The same thing was happening in the girls' locker room, then they converged on each other at the dance. Keri Russell danced circles around Tony Lucca to Genesis' 'I Can't Dance,' still one of my all-time favourite songs. I can see it like it aired yesterday!

    1. "Put Me In the Car" was much later! Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_Gosling) says 2007, but I'm sure it was before then. I've played it for people for years!

  2. You really found him all the way back with the MMC!! Woot!!!

    I think he first appeared on my radar with "The Notebook". But I think the first time I realized he was more than just a gorgeous face was "Lars and the Real Girl" he was SO good in that movie!

    1. He's always stuck on my radar, mostly because he's my age and we're both Canadian. Have you seen "Fracture"? He rocked that role!
