Books

So I've been hunting all over the internet looking for someone else's questions to answer. I found one. A simple one - one question on a topic that I love but totally ignore lately: books.

Booking Through Thursday
She asks on her blog: "It’s my Dad’s birthday today, which makes me wonder … do you like to give books as gifts?"

My answer on that varies, depending on the recipient. Sometimes, I'm browsing a bookstore, and I find something that totally reminds me of a friend or a family member, and I just have to get it for them. Other times, I read a book and it affects me in a such a way that I have an urge to give it to everyone I know (Francis Chan's Crazy Love, for instance). Sadly, with so many family members using e-readers, you don't even know any more if a book would even be appreciated.

Now, I did receive a book for Christmas. It's a cookbook that I had raved about (after watching the accompanying instructional TV series) but was unavailable in my country. My mother bought it for me while she was away, which was an amazingly thoughtful gesture!

This book is seriously a life-changer!
If you've never read Crazy Love - do it! And check out all of Francis Chan's videos. It's just amazing.

What about you? Do you give books as gifts? Please share - and visit Deb's site and share there! :)

  2. Sounds like you've gifted us, in a way; shouting out about a favorite is a great way to "give."

  3. It really does depend on the recipient. Some people are easier to buy books for than others.
